My Story

Who is Coach Carie?

“Mymissionhasalwaysbeentohelpathletesbelieveinthemselves,workhard,andenjoythejourney.”

Carie Dever Boaz

I grew up in Woodlake, California, and became the very first recruit of legendary coach Margie Wright at Fresno State. I helped lead the Bulldogs to four Women's College World Series appearances — including the first ever held in Oklahoma City.

Since then I have coached at every level this game has: college, professional, high school, and elite travel ball. I have been a head coach in the SEC, managed a professional championship team, and sat across the kitchen table from families in the middle of the hardest decision of their daughter's life so far.

So this work is not a recruiting service. It is a sit-down conversation, a road map, and someone in your corner who has seen how this ends.

Don't ask your parents.

Don't text your best friend.

Don't answer what you think your coach wants to hear.

Don't answer what sounds impressive.

There are no right or wrong answers. This is simply a snapshot of who you are today.

You may laugh two years from now because some of your answers changed — and that's okay. Growth is the goal.

The Landscape

How we got here —and why it matters.

The recruiting process your older sister, cousin, neighbor, or even your coach experienced is not the same process you are entering today.

01

Before 2020

Traditional recruiting

Coaches watched travel tournaments. Players committed early. Rosters stayed stable. For years, the system barely moved.

02

2020

COVID changed everything

Thousands of athletes received an extra year of eligibility. Rosters filled with returning players. Families experienced delays that had nothing to do with talent.

03

Since 2021

The transfer portal

Coaches now recruit from two talent pools — high school athletes and proven college athletes. Standing out matters more than it ever has.

04

Since 2021

Name, Image & Likeness

NIL created real opportunity and unrealistic expectations in equal measure. Treat it as a bonus, never the reason you choose a school.

05

Today

The five-in-five reality

Coaches evaluate their roster every single year. Recruiting doesn't end at signing day — she keeps earning her place.

Testimonials

Four kinds of peoplesay the same thing.
We came in asking which schools would want her. We left asking what she actually wanted. That changed everything about how we spent the next two years.
